The Oracle Hack and its refusal to take responsbility.

It is yet another day in the Oracle Hacking crisis. The company is not interested in taking any responsibility for its actions. The inability to stop the hack or even responsibility is a big issue that the government should be investigating here. While one can say that Oracle is not an omnipotent company, they still need to be aware that security matters. The company is wasting its time by not responding to the complaints.

Oracle has to understand that it’s reputation is at stake here and action must be taken to restore confidence.

I am not a cyber security expert but everyday there seems to be more hacks and break ins by hackers.

Oracle needs to take this seriously and give the right response to their customers.

With the Lazarus Group from Kim Jong Un’s North Korea stealing crypto and this hack, something has to change.

What can change?

I think that educating people on cyber security should be in schools. Too often, it seen as an easy class in high school and in college. When I went to George Mason University, IT class was seen as a burden by students. It is time that perception changes. Even after all these years of computer education, many students are not serious about applying it. Computer programming is back in the realm of the nerds, and it is not seen as interesting by students.

Such classes should have classes on how to be aware of phishing attacks or malware. Too many times we are seeing the older folks on the internet being manipulated by social engineering emails.

Replace Passwords with Passcodes

Replacing passwords with passcodes is another way that cybersecurity can be improved on the internet. I have recently been using my browser to save passwords as there are too many to remember. Such passwords, even when strong, are not enough to deter hackers. We need to have stronger protections from hackers. Passcodes could be the solution. There are too many stories of people having passwords which are basically just 123, which is not conducive for secure sites.

Taking action takes time and some people are just unable to pay attention to the cyber realm with any seriousness.

Another thing that needs to happen is that we need to upgrade our servers and computers. America is going through a building boom in data centers. Maintaining such centers and upgrading them when appropriate will be vital in making sure our cyber infrastructure is sparkling new and ready for any challenges.

Oracle can take the step towards revitalization of America’s cyberspace. They can start by being honest and upgrading their systems so they are secure.

Streaming and Netflix’s grip on it

It seems strange to consider that at one time, streaming was seen as a revolutionary idea. It was going to change the realm of entertainment. Instead what we got is basically the continuation of what we saw with Cable TV. Cable became the same as broadcast, lacking any sort of vitality to it.

Streaming is becoming the same thing. Who is to blame? It is Netflix of course.

Netflix was on top like a Monarch on this throne.

Now that it has been on top for so long, it feels little need for any innovation.

Streaming used to be interesting but now it is becoming more like the old television model. Such a state of affairs is a reason why people are starting to migrate to freemium streaming or even platforms with just ads on content which is offered with advertising to pay for the cost of running the servers.

Netflix’s grip on streaming has taken a toll on actors and people writing these stories. Until we have actual power shifting in this area, streaming will continue to be a wasteland of missed opportunities.

It is time for streaming services to start actually competing and innovating in this space.

Ecommerce 2025- America needs to meet the China challenge

Ecommerce on the internet is like attractions along highways; it is a necessity. The internet is another landscape just like real life is. It is not enough just to have people use the internet, they need to treat seriously. Ecommerce was the bread and butter of Web 1.0 and it needs to be given more attention in America.

People have gotten comfortable with Amazon but Temu and Shein are starting to move in and its showing how utterly outmatched Americans are. Instead of wasting their time on stupid political issues, maybe they should focus on what really matters here.

Ecommerce is the future of retail and yet we seem to asleep at the wheel here. We need to understand how important this industry really is. When you consider the issues that the retail industry has been going through, it makes sense that the Chinese would want to come in here and scoop it up so they can control our nation. Just like when China had the foreign concessions in Canton or what is known as Shanghai, we are making our own concessions here.

America started ecommerce long before the internet.

Even though television is often seen the domain of the older generations, it was there that many emerging forms of ecommerce began. Home Shopping channels began in the United States and we made the transition to Ecommerce in the 1990s.

However, we shouldn’t be lying on our laurels. America needs to build its own low-cost ecommerce brands beyond Amazon.

In order to compete with China, we need to make Ecommerce brands that combine quality with low cost. In a country with labor laws such as the United States, that is not going to be easy.

However, it is necessary step in order to revitalize America’s internet, which currently is stagnating and need new ideas to compete with China.
