Battlefield V, the newest version of the series’ depiction of World War II shows the power of the FrostByte engine. Unlike the original Battlefield 1942, the Pacific War maps are less of empty islands with some trees here and there and the foliage is much denser than in that 2002 Game. This of course means that the game is prettier but more difficult as you have constantly keep looking for enemies in the bush and for newer players without context, this is much more difficult game.
However, in spite of its difficulty, Battlefield 5 brings new life into World War 2 games which were getting somewhat stale. The Pacific War was tough to represent in the past but now it can get the attention that was always missing in this genre. Battlefield V is love letter to the old games while also building a foundation for upcoming and future games. This is what the video game industry needs to achieve. Stay away from politicization and focus on refining the art.
